"L’affrontement entre les styles de voitures constitue l’ADN de Fast & Furious", nous a confiĂ© Vin Diesel dans l’article paru ce mois-ci dans GQ "Pourquoi Fast & Furious est un film intelligent . Dans le film donc, les voitures sont Ă  l’image des hĂ©ros multiculturelles. Il y a des amĂ©ricaines bien sĂ»r, mais aussi des allemandes, des anglaises et des italiennes. Elles forment une communautĂ© automobile Ă©clectique, mi-vintage mi-moderne, Ă  base de custom et de grosses cylindrĂ©es. Toutes sont des bolides rugissants prĂȘts Ă  rĂ©aliser les pires cascades. Au total, 300 voitures ont Ă©tĂ© utilisĂ©es pour les besoins du film, parmi lesquelles 200 ont fini Ă  la casse ! On passera sur les incontournables Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang et autre Plymouth Baracouda qui assurent le gros du spectacle, honneur yankee oblige. La sĂ©lection rĂ©serve quelques surprises comme la Ford Mark Escort en tenue de rallye avec sa jolie robe bleue et blanche. Loin des supercars et autres muscle cars, cette "youngtimer" europĂ©enne de la fin des annĂ©es 70 semble la caution anti-bling du film. La preuve qu’il n’est pas nĂ©cessaire d’ĂȘtre un poids lourd pour intĂ©grer la bande de Vin Diesel. Autre curiositĂ©, qui montre la sophistication montante des choix automobiles dans Fast & Furious, la Jensen Interceptor, magnifique coupĂ© anglais de 1973 dotĂ©e d’une lunette arriĂšre incurvĂ©e. Rare, mythique et oubliĂ©e du grand public, cette pĂ©pite est ici largement revisitĂ©e avec une peinture mate, des bandes noires et un gros pot d’échappement courant le long des bas de caisse. Sans oublier son gros V8 de 480 ch. Toujours dans le mĂȘme esprit british, on remarquera aussi le fabuleux roadster vert et jaune Lister 470, construit par le carrossier amĂ©ricain Lucra. Radical avec son mini-pare-brise et ses deux arceaux, l’engin accĂ©lĂšre de 0 Ă  100 km/h en 3 secondes grĂące Ă  son moteur de 550 ch. D’autres apparitions du film pourront faire sourire ou grincer des dents. On pense Ă  cette Alfa Romeo Giulietta de sĂ©rie, dont on sent bien qu’elle a Ă©tĂ© placĂ©e pour d’évidentes raisons marketing, certainement pas pour occuper le haut de l’affiche. Mais il faut bien quelques courtisanes pour faire recette... En contrepartie, la production a dĂ©veloppĂ© son propre bĂ©bĂ©, la terrible Flip Car qui semble tout droit sortie d’un Mad Max. Elle, au moins, a toute sa lĂ©gitimitĂ©. Avec son capot en forme de tremplin, elle sert Ă  faire sauter les voitures, en leur fonçant dessus.
